Landscape biodiversity workgroup studies ecosystem functioning and restoration of degraded ecosystems. Our research focuses on different ecosystems from semi-natural grasslands to forests and cities, different species groups from vascular plants to mycorrhiza and spiders, and different biodiversity components from species diversity to genetic diversity. We think it is important to consider historical land-use and time-lags (e.g. extinction debt, colonisation credit) in ecology and nature conservation.
