Professor Aveliina Helm will take up the position of science adviser to the minister of climate, according to a press release from the Ministry of the Environment.
The science adviser will advise the minister on the formulation of the policy of the Ministry of Climate and the drafting of the Climate Act. In addition to drafting the Climate Act, the Ministry of Climate is preparing a number of significant changes: a transition to renewable energy, a more sustainable use of forest resources, a shift to ecological transport, waste management reform, biodiversity enhancement and nature restoration. On all issues, it is important that decisions are made in a considered and fact-based way.
