New article about the extinction of semi-natural communities

In February, a new research article co-authored by Aveliina was published on semi-natural communities being caught in socio-ecological extinction vortex. This means that these habitats are moving towards extinction with the help of socio-economic factors. The article identified four such factors: agricultural production, policy, research and development, vocational education in the fields of agricultural sciences and public’s experiences with semi-natural habitats. The article found that the current measures were not enough to stop the extinction of habitats and suggested actions to improve the situation.

The article is freely available here.
