At the request of the Environmental Agency, researchers from the University of Tartu and the Estonian University of Life Sciences, led by our work group, will map the economic value of Estonia's main terrestrial ecosystems (forests, swamps, meadows, agricultural ecosystems) by 2023 in order to create a more sustainable society. The aim of this work is to develop opportunities that would help us to take better into account the fundamental role of ecosystems in supporting human well-being, both in land use planning and in the economy as a whole. The project is a continuation of the ELME project, where the status and benefits of terrestrial ecosystems were mapped.
