On the 1st of December, University of Tartu celebrated its 100th anniversary as Estonia's national university, providing higher education in Estonian language. Throughout the year, various events and exhibitions have occurred to celebrate the anniversary (see https://100.ut.ee/). The official celebration ceremony was held on 1st of December and Aveliina was invited to give academic lecture during the event. Lecture, titled "Environment for life - the task of the century", discussed urgent topics - how to reverse biodiversity loss and fight climate change, how scientists from all disciplines need to join to tackle these threats and what is the role of our own national university in all of this. The ceremony can be viewed here (in Estonian). Aveliina’s lecture starts at 30:12. Aveliina's talk was also published in the opinion page of the newspaper Postimees and can be read from the university's webpage (in Estonian).
