Alongside plant, moss, and lichen species, biodiverse landscapes are also inhabited by many animal species. Of them, my research deals with bats. Like many other species, many of them are also threatened by anthropogenic pressures, be they homogenization of the landscapes or wind turbines which can pose a mortality risk to them. In my doctoral project, I investigate the diversity of bats in the landscape to find measures for minimizing risks for bats. I try to find ways to make informed landscape planning decisions so that our rooms will be lit and the creatures of the night may flourish. My supervisor is Aveliina Helm.
