My thesis will assess the current ecological state of urban green spaces in Estonia, identify the significant drivers of degradation, and determine appropriate strategies for restoration. It evaluates the effectiveness of different restoration techniques and interventions carried out in Estonian cities for improving biodiversity and ecosystem services. The thesis will answer the question of how to use semi-natural grassland biotopes in the urban built environment to increase biodiversity and develop best practices and guidelines for the ecological restoration of urban green spaces.
